Forgot your password? By smogfalls , May 3, in Electric Guitars. How good is the Epiphone compared to the Gibson? Depends what model you're looking at The Epi Elite range - if you can find one - are every bit as good as a Gibby, unless you have a hang up re cellulose lacquer. I gather these are not officially available here anymor,e so yuo might find a good deal on one used, especially as and i think herein lies the root of them not taking off here they were perceived as expensive Epis rather than "cheaper gibsons" if they'd called em MIJ Gibson, they'd have not been able to make them fast enough - on the second hand market they should go for a really good deal as a player's guitar rather than a brand.
The regular MIK Epis are superb if you take the time to select the best one you can find - not as good as the gibson, BUT IMHO infinitely better value for money: at about a quarter of the price, you're getting a guitar that's a lot better than half as good.
A lot of these go on ebay, often with hardshell case, for around quid. Equally, on the used market I wouldn't rule out a Westone Rainbow - see e. MIJ, good as an equivalent TOkai in my book. I don't think Gibson is currently selling a shaped guitar with P90s. They used to sell the ES, which was, roughly speaking the Gibson equivalent of the Epiphone Casino.
But it's not in the current lineup. As for the Casino, me regular Epiphone model is now made in Korea or China.
Девки ебутся как могут, используя самотыки и даже кий для игры в бильярд. When she saw what I was doing she pretended not to notice.
As she brought the glass from her lips, she dropped it, spilling the contents across Jeff's jeans. In reality, the government's own research showed that the risk of getting AIDS from one act of heterosexual intercourse was less than the chance of getting hit by lightening. А когда безобразие началось, стало в меня сомнение закрадываться, головой кручу, а ничего в полумраке не разгляжу.
I own an ES and have also played many times on the Casino. There is no comparison with these two. The ES is all around better. The Casino sounds thin, both acoustically and plugged in, when compared. The pickups on the ES are also hotter and beefier sound.
The ES has a thicker laminate, better hardware. I do like the Casino, the ones I have played felt good and a few needed some fret polishing, but still a nice guitar for what you would pay.
Still, hands down the ES is a better guitar all around. My only complaint with the ES, is upper fret access beyond the 15th is really hard to impossible. There also was short lived ESL with 19 frets clear of the body. I happen to own all of these models, along with a Peerless Casino and a 50th Anniversary '61 Casino.
There can be noticeable variations within any given model line, with some stellar examples, and some mediocre examples. I would suggest you play as many as you can get your hands on, and then decide which one you personally prefer for the type of music you play. It's really pretty hard to go wrong with either one. Japanese Casinos are a very different kettle of fish to the Korean, Chinese or Indonesian versions though. The VOS is a very nice guitar and I'd agree probably the pick of the bunch, but the Elitist Epis are exceptional instruments that are easily comparible to Gibson.
I have an earlier Japanese Casino made by Fujigen and it's the equal of any modern Gibson in terms of build quality. I play my '65 more than I do the Casino - the neck profile suits me better and the pickups seem a little more dynamic and responsive - but the Casino is a great example of professional workmanship.
